Altamira is a children’s primeval open-air museum at Kosmonosy. It was built based on the prehistoric homestead from Butser Hilus, England. Children can enjoy the charming world of history, old clay furnaces and adventures of the primeval hunters. The biggest construction is the so-called “small club-room” with a fireplace in the middle. Next to it, a large club-room is located; it is decorated with artifacts from the Stone Age made by children. The open-air museum consists of nine primeval structures where medieval crafts are shown. Thus, one can see baking and weaving shops, metalworking and ceramics workplace, Celtic constructions, prehistoric sacrificial places and a medieval glass factory.
