Skalka upon Mnisek pod Brdy

Route: Car park between the towns Mnisek pod Brdy and Revnice – Skalka. Trip is suitable for strollers and families with young children (also suitable for cyclists). Total lenght: approx. 5 km along well-maintained roads.

Start your trip on a small car park upon Mnisek pod Brdy. Cross the road and go along a track forward through the wood. The track ascends slightly and bends right. On reaching the hill the ones

„unwheeled“ may shorten the journey arriving Skalka within five minutes.

For those with „wheels“, continue to the crossroads and turn left. At the end of the track you find        a place of pilgrimage and a church dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, and stations of the cross. The church is from baroque era (16th century) and the interiors resembles the cave. From here you can enjoy beautiful views over the Mnisek town and the surroundings. It is ideal place for a picnic, too.

Free access to the fire plce is guarenteed in the summer and during weekends in spring and autumn seasons. So you can fry sausages from our own inventory or buy them in a nearby stall, if you like.

Sitting here is  very nice and relaxing, with a view over the pool of water lilies, and a footbridge croosing the pool,  where large dragonflies fly above the water surface. You get back to the car park the same way. During it you may collect some mushrooms and a few blueberries, just in my mouth.

Tip: For the ones „unwheeled”, you may start your trip in Mnisek pod Brdy town with regular coach service and follow the green waymarked track to Skalka. The route is not demanding, some sections, however, are steep and not suitable for strolles with babies. Mnisek pod Brdy is also a very nice small town and the above mentioned trip can be combined with a visit to a local town castle.
