Thanks to the wealth of its collections, it is ranked among leading European institutions of this kind. The world’s largest water lily, large collections of orchids and cactuses, an extensive alpine garden, almost three-century-old camellias and freshwater and later also marine aquariums, the first ones in the republic, have become remarkable. The unique collections have recently been extended to include a carnivorous plant collection reputable all over the world.
